So, into week 2 of just over 3 weeks of preparation for the DHL Relay… and this week I am trying to increase the distance I can run…
I set off and chose a different route today – I ran around a different block of about the same length, but at a much slower pace… It was a really lovely evening to run tonight with the air pleasantly warm, the sun out and the iPod kicking out some nice rhythmic techno 😀
I did my circuit and I was feeling really good… so I stopped for a stretch of the calves and ran the block I ran last week. So I managed to run 3km in total – double my distance from last week! The best part is that my legs are not hurting that much and I feel great!
Actually the only downside today was that I was overtaken by someone twice my age and speed … I must look silly when I am running!
I reckon I could have carried on but I didn’t want to push it, so I think next time I’ll run the same route and see how I feel. But today was a great day and I hope that I can continue in this way so I can make my goal of being able to run the 5km relay! 😀
